Dave Porreca

Dave Porreca, adviser to The Gargoyle at University of Illinois Laboratory School in Urbana, is congratulated by IJEA treasurer Susan Tantillo at the All-State Luncheon June 9, 2007, in Springfield, for the accomplishments of his student, Michael Belmont, who was a selection to the 2007 All-State Journalism Team. During his tenure as IJEA president, Porreca encouraged the board to recognize staffers whose efforts sometimes go unnoticed, those MVPs who are indispensable to the publication. The first All-State Journalism Team was selected in 2005.
