MEET OUR 2016-17 OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS

The 2016-2017 IJEA Board of Directors Officers are: (top to bottom, left to right) Vice President for Membership John Gonczy, Co-Secretary Dan Kerns, Vice President for Promotions Dave Porecca, Treasurer Kimberly Reese, President Brad Bennewitz, and Co-Secretary Amanda Bright

The 2016-2017 IJEA Board of Directors Officers are: (top to bottom, left to right) Vice President for Membership John Gonczy, Co-Secretary Dan Kerns, Vice President for Promotions Dave Porreca, Treasurer Kimberly Reese, President Brad Bennewitz, and Co-Secretary Amanda Bright

Article 3.01 of the IJEA Bylaws mandates that the IJEA Board will consist of at least 17 members (“directors”): two directors elected from each of the association’s six regions, four at-large directors appointed by the president with the consent of the board, and the executive director.

Currently the board has 21 directors: 12 regional directors, seven at-large appointed members and two ex officio members — the IJEA executive director (Dr. Sally Renaud) and the Illinois state director for the national Journalism Education Association (Brenda Field, MJE).

Those directors who represent one of the state’s six regions serve three-year elected terms, and they may stand for re-election. At-large directors serve one-year appointed terms, and they may be reappointed.

The IJEA executive director, the Illinois state director from the national JEA, and the IJEA website director are ex officio board members, meaning they hold their board positions by virtue of their other offices. They have full voting rights and remain on the board for the duration of their respective offices.

The board organizes itself each year at the association’s June meeting by electing the following officers: president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. Currently the board has six officers (including two vice presidents and two co-secretaries).
