Receiving award plaques at the JEA
Fall National Convention in November
2005 in Chicago were three of IJEA's
board members. The
awards were presented at the Adviser
Recognition Luncheon on Nov. 12
at the Hyatt Regency. Sarah Doerner,
an IJEA board member from Du
Quoin, IL received the JEA "Lifetime
Achievement Award" in recognition
of her many years of service to
the organization and to scholastic
journalism. Dr. James Tidwell, from
Eastern Illinois University at Charleston,
IL and Randy Swikle (pictured below),
from McHenry , IL, received "Medals
of Merit" awards. These are
given to JEA members who have made
significant contributions to scholastic
journalism.

the annual fall conference of the
Journalism Education Association
and the National Scholastic Press
Association.
New
Board of Directors member Deb Malcolm
receives a Medal of Merit from the
Journalism Education Association
at the group's award luncheon Saturday,
Nov. 11, 2006, at the Gaylord Opryland
Hotel in Nashville. Susan Tantillo,
board treasurer and JEA secretary,
presents the award.

a Lifetime Achievement award from
JEA, presented by Tantillo.

Linda
Kane, adviser at Naperville Central,
is honored with the Walt Clarkson
Memorial Award given by the National
Scholastic Press Association and
presented by interim Director Renee
McGivern.
