Ewell Scholarship
Scholarship
to be used for J Conference Sept.
21.
Five Dana Ewell Memorial Scholarships
will be given this year to pay registration
costs of attending the J Conference
for Advisers held Sept. 21, 2007,
at Eastern Illinois University.
The scholarships will pay the registration
fee for the one-day conference,
a series of workshops on topics
such as staffing, budgets, photography,
design and the law. The sessions
can apply to any media field
newspaper, yearbook, magazine, broadcast
or online publishing.
The Dana Ewell Memorial Scholarship
was established by the IJEA to honor
the memory of Dana Ewell, a longtime
IJEA board member, the executive
director of the Illinois State High
School Press Association and a University
of Illinois journalism professor.
Dana, 55, died Jan. 4, 2003, after
an eight-month battle against leukemia.
Advisers must be members of the
Illinois Journalism Education Association
to be considered for the scholarship.
Previous winners may reapply.
Applicants must complete the Dana
Ewell Memorial Scholarship application
form and send it to IJEA headquarters
by Aug. 13, 2007.
