The newsroom of the future is here — and you can learn all about it at our Fall Conference in September

May 15, 2015

URBANA — As you start planning for next fall, we hope you’ll pencil in our annual daylong gathering for high school journalism students and advisers from around the state.

We’re talking about the ‎IJEA Fall Conference, of course, and this year’s event will be held Friday, Sept. 18, at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

This year we’re focusing on innovative and engaging models of news delivery that draw in a young, media-savvy audience.

The keynote will be “The Newsroom of the Future is Here!” with a panel of speakers from DNAinfo Chicago.

As always, the event will offer plenty of sessions covering the full range of high school media, with topics of interest to scholastic journalism veterans and novices alike.

In the spirit of the keynote, we encourage you and your students to use the hashtag #IJEA15 when posting about the conference on Twitter and other social media. In fact, one of this year’s sessions will be devoted to live tweeting the day’s activities!

Keep an eye on your high school mailbox this summer for a postcard with more about the 2015 theme as well as guidance on how to register online.

Information on sessions will go up soon at the IJEA Fall Conference site. We’ll also publish the details here at our home site, on our Twitter feed and on our Facebook page.

And, if you have topic ideas you would enjoy for the individual sessions, conference director Lynn Holley would love to hear from you.
